Virus's have a nasty way of launching themselves automatically with Outlook Express this tip will tell you how to prevent e-mail from automatically opening with Outlook Express. This will prevent your machine from being automatically being infected with by e-mail based viruses. This tip prevents e-mail from automatically being opened. Advise that you do not open any e-mail with an attachment unless you know who its from.

1. The first thing to do is click on the Outlook Express Icon opening the program.
2. Then go to the menu bar and select view.
3. Scroll down and select  lay out. 
4. Uncheck the show preview pane box.  

Now e-mail will not be automatically opened. This prevent the majority of viruses from infecting your machine.
