How to do a complete defrag in Windows XP®

This way of doing a defrag does not require any 3rd party programs it just uses the ones included in Windows XP®. By doing it this way you will see a substantial improvement in overall disk performance. You should do this about once a month. Had to break this up into 6 pages so dial up users can view this tip.

  1. The first thing you do is go to system restore and temporarily disable it by left clicking or selecting start button all programs/accessories/system tools/system restore 
  2.  
  3. Then left click or select system restore settings 
  4.  
  5. This will bring up the system properties dialog box then check Turn off System Restore on all drivesleft click on apply on the bottom right of box.
  6. The System restore dialog box will appear then click yes.

  8. Now left click or select start button select or left click on control panel when that opens up
